Why the name
I grew up here, and I fix locks for my neighbors
I've always liked helping people, and it turned out I had a knack for locks. So I started The Caring Locksmith — a family-owned, one-man business where the person who picks up the phone is the person who shows up at your door.
That means no call center, no dispatcher reading from a script, and no bait-and-switch on the price when I get there. The number I give you on the phone is the number you pay.

Before you call
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. I hold California locksmith license #LCO6853, issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, and I'm insured. You can verify the license yourself on the BSIS website, and I'm happy to show it to you when I arrive.
Do I need to prove the car or house is mine?
Yes, and I don't make exceptions. For a vehicle I'll need to see registration, title or insurance in your name; for a home, ID with the address on it or something equivalent. It takes thirty seconds and it's the reason you can trust that nobody else is getting into your property either.
Can you make a car key if I've lost every copy?
Usually, yes. With the vehicle's make, model, year and VIN I can originate a key from scratch — cut it and program it to the car on site. Sidewinder and transponder keys are no problem. Some newer push-to-start systems need extra steps, so tell me the year and model when you call and I'll be straight with you about what's involved.
Should I rekey or replace my locks?
If the hardware is in good shape, rekeying is almost always the better call — it's faster, it costs less, and it makes every old key useless. Replacement makes sense when the lock is worn, damaged, or you want to upgrade the security grade. I'll tell you which one you actually need.
