Keys locked inside the car
On the seat, in the ignition, in the cup holder. I open the door with proper entry tools that work with the lock or the latch, not a coat hanger down the window channel.
Keys locked in the trunk
I open the car and release the trunk from inside. On vehicles where the interior release is disabled or there's a valet lockout, I pick the trunk lock directly.
The fob or remote has died
Often the emergency blade hidden inside the fob will open the door — I'll talk you through it on the phone first, for free. If that's not the answer, I come and open it, and I can fit a new battery or replace the fob while I'm there.
Lost the only key
I open the car and then originate a new key on the spot — cut to code and programmed to the vehicle. One visit, no tow.
Key broke off in the door or ignition
I extract the broken piece without damaging the cylinder and cut you a fresh key from the remaining half or to code.
A child or pet is locked in
If it's hot or there's any danger, call 911 first — they'll break a window and that's the right call. Then call me for the follow-up. If it's not urgent, call me and say so; I'll come as fast as I safely can.

2. I confirm it's your car
Registration, title or insurance in your name, plus photo ID. If it's all inside, we check once the door's open.
3. Open, keys in hand
Door open, no marks, and you're on your way. If you want a spare key made so this never happens again, I can cut one right there.

Three things worth trying before I arrive
- Check every door and the trunk. Obvious, but a rear door left unlocked has saved a lot of people a callout.
- Look for the emergency blade in your fob. Most smart keys have a small mechanical key hidden inside, and most cars have a keyhole under a cap on the driver's door handle.
- Try the manufacturer's app. Many newer cars can be unlocked from the phone app if you've set it up. Worth thirty seconds.

Will opening the car damage the door or the paint?
No. I use proper entry tools that work with the door, not against it. No slim jims, no coat hangers, no wedged-open frames that leave a bent door and a whistling seal.
My keys are in the trunk. Can you get them?
Yes. I open the car, then release the trunk from inside — or pick the trunk lock directly on vehicles where the interior release is disabled.
Do I need to prove the car is mine?
Yes, every time. Registration, title or insurance in your name plus photo ID. If they're inside the car, tell me and we'll confirm once it's open.
Is a locksmith cheaper than roadside assistance?
If you already pay for roadside cover, use it — though be aware they often subcontract to whoever's nearest. If you don't, I'll give you a fixed price on the phone and I'm the one who turns up.
